Game of War – Fire Age - IOs7

“Game of War – Fire Age is the first truly global online game. Befriend, Chat, Help, and Destroy people from all over the world in this real time game of global conquest!”

www.gameofwarapp.com

Hello everyone!
Happy August! Tonight we are taking a quick look into Game of War – Age of Fire for your mobile devices.
Anyway as always we rate on four main things here:
Gameplay - How does it play?
               Graphics - 1987 or 2014
Sound - Vibrant or White Noise?
Lasting Appeal - Wham Bam Thank Ya Ma'am, or REPLAY!
Each section will be rated between 1 or 5 stars, 5 being the best ever (good luck devs!) and 1 being another download and delete.

               Gameplay – 4/5
While this game appears to be another Pay To Win RTS game; never judge a book by its cover. Yes, you can spend all of the money you want and dominate, but the field is more leveled then other games. For example, by joining and alliance and helping your teammates, you can earn the benefits that others can pay for. So with the right group of people it can level a playing field.

The UI is very usable; however it is very cramped on my IPhone 5c. There is a lot of things that are easily accessible from your initial menu, and an option for MORE, make sure you check everything out and see what you have at your disposal! Go forth and build your kingdoms!

Some fundamental parts of the game for beginners are as follows:
Alliances: Join an alliance ASAP, you can get help with building, rewards, earn a special currency to buy alliance items, and of course ask for help finding those damn Level 1 Cyclops!

Cyclops Event: Currently there is a Cyclops event going on in game, go find those Cyclops and demolish them and their homes! But beware, they come with a price!
Research: In order to fight the Cyclops you will have to research the necessary skills! Make sure to make wise decisions while researching! Some of these take over a day to complete!

Crafting: During your raids you will find supplies, like gems, bones, hides, etc. Check out your Forge and select recipes; here you can see all of the epic gear you can make for your Hero! As well as the stats you can affect by equipping the gear!

Quests and the Casino: There are Empire Quests, Daily Quests, Alliance Quests, and VIP Quests. Empire Quests are basic quests to get your empire going! Make sure to complete all of these! Daily, Alliance, and VIP quests are quests that regenerate every few hours and give you loot, exp, resources, and sometimes special bonuses! Alliance quests become accessible after joining an alliance, and VIP quests are for VIP Players only. The casino has a lot of great items to win, make sure to check it out!

Farming: When first starting out look for resource patches around your city, send your armies to a patch and they will start collecting! But beware, your city may be undefended if you send everyone!

               Graphics – 3.5/5
The graphics for the UI is interesting; however it really does not POP for me. It has a small learning curve; unless you are a RTS Veteran you may have some problems at first, but nothing you cannot overcome.

               Sound – 4/5
The sounds in the game really made me feel like I was making my kingdom, or I could be RPing with myself again, HA! Overall it is nice when you are alone, however sitting at work using this app may get you a strange look or two!

               Lasting Appeal – 3.8/5
My rating for 3.8 comes with the sole factor that I have not engaged in much PVP or large scale wars. All of my attacks have been on smaller 1 on 1 cities. From what I can see if you like RTS games, this may be a winner for you! I will be around, if you ever in game and need something shoot me a msg on DueEast .

So my overall vote for this everyday IPhone and Android app is a ... 3.8 . I would recommend you pick this up, if not for anything but to kill a giant Cyclops!

Resident Evil 4 - HD Edition for the PC

Welcome back to Hiram Abiff's Game Show! We have a classic review this time around, Resident Evil 4 - HD Edition for the PC. Don't get excited just yet, this is a harsh one.
Anyway as always we rate on four main things here:
Gameplay - How does it play?
Graphics - 1987 or 2014? (Just to elaborate for that nasty gram someone sent me, did the game     come out in 2014 and look like a 1987 game by accident? Retro games aside.)
Sound - Vibrant or White Noise?
Lasting Appeal - Wham Bam Thank Ya Ma'am, or REPLAY!
Each section will be rated between 1 or 5 stars, 5 being the best ever (good luck devs!) and 1 being another download and delete.

Graphics: 3/5
Alright, Graphics, let's say one thing for sure, I was expecting full HD and a beautiful game, instead what I got was a neat skin on top of a nine year old game. Was I expecting too much? Of course I wasn't.

Gameplay: 2/5
Gameplay was, well not fun at all, I set my mouse sensitivity to 30, which in my defense is the current cap, it was still extremely difficult to move around, and no I will not go and set up a controller to play a PC game #Mouse&Keyboard. Coming from a fan of the original RE4 was a arrow to my heart.

Sound: 4.5/5
The sound quality was probably one of the best things about this game, it was deep, and at times downright scary.  However, there was a lot of repetition in sounds. This category still received the highest for the ENTIRE GAME! Go AUDIO GUYS!

Lasting Appeal: 1/5
Lasting Appeal, NO. In fact I already deleted this game from my PC, however I will be busting out the old GameCube and playing some on there, ahh the memories.

TOTAL SCORE!: 2.6

I commend the dev team for attempting to revive this legend of a game, but please, keep it in the grave and a fond memory in the back of my head. Download it and try it for yourselves!

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - IPhone

Welcome back to Hiram Abiff's Game Shows' Review Blog! I will do my best to keep this as unbiased as possible, but I am a HUGE Star Wars Nerd. However, Lego Star Wars Saga for the IPhone was true to its predecessor on the main platforms. Check it out below!

Gameplay: 4/5
I was rather shocked when I entered into this Lego universe; it looked, and felt as if I was playing on a console! The first Episode played glorious but when I went into the cantina to spend my hard earned studs, I was prompted to pay, real life monies. Specifically $.99 for an arcade mode, or $9.99 for the entire saga, plus bonus content; considering what you are getting, and the price I paid for the Original Trilogy, then the Prequels, and then the Entire Saga on Xbox360, this is a value! And Yes, I purchased it!

Graphics: 4.5/5
The graphics, well were amazing, considering. This is a true copy of the originals!

Sound:  4/5
The sound was great, but buggy at times. On a few occasions my audio skipped, both on my phone and in my headset. Despite the few bugs, it was generally good! But not a perfect 5, not that it would be an easy feat.
Lasting Appeal: 3/5
The Lasting Appeal for a game like this is slim, I mean don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE Star Wars fan! However, I can’t help thinking how dreadful this is to play over and over again. Sorry Disney.

THE TOTAL SCORE!
3.8/5

I was impressed that the game was cloned, however it still only a single play through, or for random fun. I am personally going to keep the game on my phone, just for shits and giggles. But hey, I paid!

Galaxy On Fire 2 HD - IPhone 5c

Welcome back to Hiram Abiff's Game Shows' Review Blog! Today we have a first for us here at the studio! An APP! That's right we are reviewing an app at the request of a long time friend. I was sceptical, more than usual, at first, I mean come on its an freaken app. But when I downloaded GOF2-HD for the IPhone 5c I was impressed. The last cell phone game I played was Brick Breaker. :D Not really but close enough.

Gameplay
So I am roughly 4 main missions into GOF2, and I am super impressed. The galaxy is surprisingly expansive, it kind of reminds me of a single player EVE. Your character Max is time warped into the future after a fight with some pirates, with no money or a ship you have to restart your ace pilot career from the ground up.
Don't be too discouraged, mining is easy once you get the hang of it. I mined for about three hours to avoid the Pay to Win option of the game. Now do not get me wrong the in game store is nice, but us writers and reviewers here are broker then all holy hell. So after I was able to amass some credits I began doing a mission or two to get out of the slum system I was in. After a few missions I was working for my old boss's again, killing pirates and fighting some weird blue Void creatures. I won't go into this too much, don't want to spoil it!
However some downfalls to the amazing app, is the money, without purchasing in game credits, mining can be a long drawn out process at first. Your starter ship holds 25t of ore, debris, rock, etc. Basic ore sells for around $85 a ton, the second ship costs about $160k, meaning you have to get approximately 76 full loads of ore rank your ship up, or do some missions. Overall I give the gameplay a 3.9/5.

Graphics
Wow. That about sums the graphics up. For a IPhone App I was impressed. That's not to say it does not have its kinks and quirks. The graphics are advanced from most space apps I have found on the market, however this is the HD version so that is kind of expected. The character portraits were blah, and the subtitles for the Void, mostly the same repeated letters over and over again. For this reason, 4/5 is in order.

Sound
I was impressed again with the sound quality even shooting it though a bluetooth it was rather nice. Smooth sounds, not to many kinks I could tell from. However the down side of the epic explosions is the voiceovers, again dull and not interesting. Voiceovers for me at least make the game, if I am following a character through an epic journey, I'd prefer if he sounded normal. But what do I know right? 3.8/5.

Lasting Appeal
I have given this careful consideration and thought. This is a truly epic game for a phone, yes, but does it have what it takes to use up 680MB on my phone. The answer is, drum roll please.  YES! This makes a perfect game for either combat style players, or people who want to mine and kill some time at the doctor's office, work, or what have you. Not to say someone may not start a Galaxy on Fire Cult and dress up in black robes and worship this game, for me and my colleagues this is a decent game to keep on your phone! 4.5/5.

FINAL SCORE!
That moment you have all been waiting for the FINAL SCORE! Since we already used a drum roll how about some trumpets? 4.05
Not quite a perfect score, but closer than most! This game is a MUST TRY for any Sci Fi or is it SyFy now nut! It compiles everything you need to kill a few hours here and there, no power? Fly, Mine, Shoot, Kill! Congratulations to the Development team for releasing such a nice game!

Check out GoF2 in the App Store or on Steam today!

The GodFather: Five Families

Gameplay 2.5/5 : After about two days of playing this game, I was not too enthused. This is another cookie cutter Tribal Wars, Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, style game, with a Godfather skin on it. Now don't get me wrong its a nice game for some people, who can pay to win. Not my style at ALL. However, I always try to keep an open mind:

When you start you pick a family,
obviously everyone wants to play a Corleone, thus you get no bonus for playing one. I chose Tattaglia, seemed legit 18% Resource Bonus during your start up. Once I got in game it did impress me with the detailed layout of the city.
Each little square is a neighborhood, some run by other Families, some by NPC "Gangs". Word of advise for anyone who tries this game out, do not try to attack uncontrolled "CityScapes" above your level. They are nasty nasty groups!
Here you can bring families together and make a "crew", or a typical guild/clan.

Graphics 3.5/5 : Compared to most games in this category this game does have slightly better graphics and a more in-depth look at the neighborhood/city. I was rather impressed with this.

The estate reminded me of the old ScarFace video game, rebuild the estate man, smuggle some coke! If only there was a large estate filled with gangsters in every neighborhood throughout the city...

Sound 1.5/5 : The music was very mafia like, but the same eerie music in the background got old extremely fast, and not just because I was hung over.

Lasting Appeal 2.5/5 : Overall I can look past the cookie cutter parts of this game, and I will play a little more. But the fact that it is pay-to-win, draws me away. I do not want to spend all of my money to get ahead in this game, nor any game. But the devs need to eat too right!

FINAL SCORE! 2/5 :

I enjoy the Godfather theme, it really takes me back, however there are millions of games on the market exactly like this one with a different skin. Lets get original and change the way we look at browser based RTSMMO's!
